Slumberjack 2 Person Trail Tent Reviews
32 of 32 people found the following review helpful Great choice for the occasional camper, December 14, 2010 By This review is from: Slumberjack 2 Person Trail Tent (Sports) I recently purchased this tent from Academy Sports & Outdoors on clearance for $37 dollars. The reason for purchase was a short notice backpacking trip. My old tent was long gone and I hadn't backpacked in years. I needed something... now. I would recommend setting it up at home before an excursion. (I didn't) I also pitched the directions (not advisable) Yet the tent was erected with ease! After returning home I timed the set up at 4:50 by myself, taking my time to still be cautious.
It's free-standing, all-mesh (great view), with two pockets, and about 5 loops (4 corners plus a center) on the ceiling - looks as though a universal gear loft would attach. Its great for lights, watch, thermometer etc.
Size wise, I had no issues with two full sized adults, gear and packs will need to be stowed under the single vestibule. I found the attached rainfly/vestibule and pole attachments are conveniently color coded by sides so that setup is simplified. The... Read more
11 of 11 people found the following review helpful great for the price!!!, May 23, 2011 This review is from: Slumberjack 2 Person Trail Tent (Sports) Got this tent knowing full well that it would be a little on the heavy side... When it arrived immediately I set it up and left it out over night with the sprinklers on, soaking it down very well when I checked the inside it was completely dry. As for it being bulky and heavy, I simply separated the tent and the poles, rolled up the tent and put it into a compression sack with my sleeping bag then placed that into the lower compartment of my pack. Over all this tent has been great (very easy to set up... 5-10 min tops). A little on the heavy side but manageable for the price.
9 of 9 people found the following review helpful A Good value, November 14, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Slumberjack 2 Person Trail Tent (Sports) I purchased this tent so I could go on Boy Scout outings with my son.
This tent is not the lightest for backpacking, but the extra weight seemed a good compromise for the both the extra room and the low cost of the tent as compared to others that were considered good backpacking tents.
It rained the night of my first outing and the tent did not leak and no moisture soaked through the floor material or the seams. This was surprising to me because the floor seemed to be so thin as compared to other larger tents. I assume the floor was made thin in order to shed some wieght.
Nothing tore or ripped and all of the seams held together. Having said that, I am generally very careful my equipment.
There was plenty of space in the tent for me to lay down my extra large ALPS Mountaineering sleeping pad, 64 liter backpack, daypack, lantern and shoes. I am 6' tall and weigh 210 lbs but did not feel crowed in the tent. I was able to shift from my... Read more
