14 of 14 people found the following review helpful Best Tent Buy on the Market!, January 2, 2010 By Bob God "Bob God" (Summerland) - See all my reviews This review is from: Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome Tent (Sports) Just for a little background info, I've been an avid camper for more than fifty years, was a professional outfitter for nearly two decades, managed a camping store, worked a a guide in the Florida Keys and Everglades for a a total of more than twenty-five years and one of my college degrees is in parks and recreation management.
With all of that in mind, this is the single best deal in a three season family camping tent on the market; no exceptions.
It is not intended as a base camp for arctic explorers. For summer trips, however, and even for mild springtime and fall trips, this tent is easy to pack and even easier to set up.
The windows on all three sides and in the door, together with the skylight style roof vent keep you cool and the interior height of six feet allows you to stand up straight and stretch your legs. The rain fly is simple and easy to attach and doesn't block the view from any of the windows or door.
These features combine... Read more
11 of 11 people found the following review helpful Terrific Comfort in Terrible Weather, August 11, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome Tent (Sports) I lived in this tent for the better part of three unseasonably cold and wet summer weeks in Maine. I stayed dry (for the most part) in spite of heavy rains lasting up to eight hours and one severe thunderstorm that lit up the tent's walls like a strobe light. I'll take the blame for any problems: the door was on the (slightly) uphill side, so some water dripped in through the bottom of the door zipper, but only after hours of continuous rain. During the thunderstorm, maybe a dozen drops blew in, not enough to wet the bottom of a shot glass. It was fine in the wind, but I would say that this is a three season tent.
The bug netting is fine, and for the price of one night in a motel, the tent owes me nothing. I outfitted it with boxsprings and a matress from a twin bed and a sturdy table/bench, leaving me plenty of room to stand and change clothes.
I love this tent!
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome Tent, May 15, 2009 By This review is from: Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome Tent (Sports) This is the second tent of this kind that I have owned. The first one lasted me for a good 6 to 8 years and I camp about 4 to 5 times a year.
Overall this is a very nice tent. It's quite roomy. You can sleep 4 on the ground but if you use a cot then only 2. You can get 3 in on a cot but it's very tight quarters. The height is tall enough for me to stand-up (I'm 5'10). So it is nice when you have to change clothes.
There is a small hook that hangs down in the center. It's nice for hanging a small battery lamp for a night light.
For day use, you can roll-up the front entry flap and secure it with a elastic loop that is sown into the tent. In the back you can unzip the secondary flap to create a window.
Set-up is not difficult. One person can do it but easier with two. With practice, it can be set up in about 10~15 min.
The material from the last tent held up quite well. What did the last tent in was that the zipper gave... Read more
